Obituary

Ella Flora Ford Blackshear of Horn Lake, Mississippi, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 17, 2007. She was born April 25, 1932, to Novella (Taylor) and Levis Ford in Hondo, Texas. Ella attended Marian Anderson School in Hondo through the 8th grade. She attended St. Peter Claver High School and St. Phillips College in San Antonio. She became a Certified Medication Aide and used this profession to help many people. She was a member of West End Baptist Church in Hondo, where she served as pianist, choir director, and secretary for many years. Ella was a member of Right Way Baptist Church in San Antonio, Rev. Hubert Morris, pastor. She was a faithful member until she moved to Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Melvin L. Ford; daughter, Novella Ann Blackshear; son, Maurice "Skipper" Blackshear; and her great-grandson, Elijah Colby Dedam. Ella is survived by her son, Robert L Blackshear of Houston; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces, one nephew, and extended family. Ella was a friend and a blessing to many and she loved her family dearly. She enjoyed and made the most of the time she spent with others. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on June 23, 2007 at the West End Baptist Church in Hondo. The casket carriers were Keith Ligon, Darren Ligon, Michael Ligon, Clay Smith, Douglas Holmes, and Eddie Jesse. Burial will follow in the Cottonwood Cemetery.
