Elmer Roy Faseler, age 79, of Yancey went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Born Nov. 10, 1927, in Yancey, he was the son of John and Annie (Hartman) Faseler. He retired in 1992 as Superintendent of the City of Hondo Water, Sewer and Garbage Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gaye Lynn Faseler; and sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Lawrence Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joanne (Parks) Faseler; sons, Roger Faseler and wife Loretta of Jourdan-ton and John Faseler and wife Shannon of Encinata, CA; four grandchildren, Andrea Kubish and husband Stanley; Jonathan, Matthew and Kaitlyn Faseler; great-grandchildren, Kole and Laurie; brothers, Karl H. Faseler and wife Vi of Yancey, John F. Faseler and wife Dorothy of San Marcos; sister, Dorothy Graff and husband John L. of Hondo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at Yancey Methodist Church with Rev. Vance Elliott, Rev. Danette Howell, and Rev. David Crabtree officiating. Casket bearers were Jerry Wilson, Herbert Mann, Randall Graff, Kent Faseler, Stephen M. Gray, Royce Graff, Kerry Faseler, Gary Elkins, and Grady Jolley. Interment was at Yancey Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Yancey Methodist Church or Yancey Cemetery Association.
