Elpidio A. Rodriguez, Sr. of Hondo, Texas, passed away January 18, 2006, at the age of 79, in San Antonio at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital. He was born November 16, 1926, in Hondo, the son of Cosme & Carmen (Avariste) Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Elpidio G. Rodriguez, Jr; grandson Max Rodriguez; brother Rudolfo Rodriguez; sisters Minerva Hernandez, Maria Selida Dominguez. Elpidio is survived by his wife Andrea (Gauna) Rodriguez; son Raul Rodriguez of Fredericksburg; daughters Oralia Lopez of Kerrville, Josefine Guerrero of Hondo, Eloisa Trinidad and husband Erasmo of Hondo; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; brothers Henry Rodriguez of Hondo, and Emilio Rodriguez of Hondo. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr Jeff Pehl, will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 21, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. The pallbearers were Tracy Salazar, Chris Villarreal, Danny Guerrero, Joshua Nira, Andrew Trinidad, Raul Rodriguez, Jr. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
