Elsa Enriquez Ytuarte of Hondo, age 89, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

Born February 10, 1935, in Burnett, she was the daughter of Fermin and Maria Zuniga Enriquez.

Elsa enjoyed cooking for her large family even after all were married and had their own children. She loved all of her grandchildren dearly (all 92 of them). And, she loved her cats.

Almost 50 years of her life was devoted to her work as a CNA, and she often became close friends with some of the elderly who were in her care.

Elsa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Eduardo Diego Ytuarte; son, Jose Luis Ytuarte; and sons-in-law, .

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Elsa Cruz of San Antonio, Erlinda Robles, Connie Enriquez, (Daniel), Maria E. Piña (Joe), Jose Alfonso "Porky" Ytuarte (Theresa), Jose Alfredo Ytuarte and Raul "Big" Ytuarte (Sherri Jo), all of Hondo; 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; seven step-children and their families; sister, Linda Enriquez Canales; and brother, Robert Enriquez.

Visitation will be Monday, Mar. 18, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Mar. 19, 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
