Elsie Sophie Augusta (Folk) Lindeburg Krause, age 92, of Quihi, passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2008. She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Hondo, the daughter of Anton Folk and Lina (Hartman) Folk. She was baptized Jan. 23, 1916, at St. John's Lutheran Church, New Fountain, and was confirmed Aug. 26, 1928, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi. It was there that she married Arnold Lindeburg on Sept. 24, 1932. After his death on Sept. 26, 1980, she married Alfred Krause on Feb. 25, 1983. He died Mar. 5, 2002. She was a dedicated homemaker and also worked as a rancher with her husband Arnold. Upon his death, she took over the ranching operation by herself and ran it until her 85th year, hauling hay, feeding and selling calves. Her love of cattle started at an early age as she grew up helping her father on his ranch. As a mother, she attended football and baseball games her sons played, supported her daughter as she played in the high school band, and served as room mother for all three children. She was a tireless church worker, serving the Lord any way she could, as an officer of the women's group, as a Sunday School teacher, and as a worker for the annual Sausage Supper until last year. Elsie is survived by her sons, Lloyd Lindeburg and wife Annise of Corpus Christi, Wilbur Lindeburg and wife Gladys of Hondo; daughter, Shirley Seewald and husband Wilfred of Comfort; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; nine stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 8, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, with Pastor Stephen Schur officiating. Bearers will be Calvin Lindeburg, Brent Lindeburg, Greg Waltz. Donald Haglund, Rudy Alvarado and Glenn Klaus. Burial will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
