Eluteria Sanchez Tapia of Hondo passed away Sunday, Apr. 24, 2022, at the age of 89.

Born in Crystal City, March 3, 1933, she was the daughter of Pilar and Sapopa Trinidad Sanchez.

Eluteria was a homemaker and loved taking care of her six children, grandchildren and great-grandhildren. Her family meant the world to her and her children agreed that "she always wanted us to love each other, no matter what."

She had a passion for roses and had the most beautiful roses and flowers in Hondo. You would usually see her outside watering her plants.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rafael Tapia; son, Reynaldo Tapia; sisters, Juanita Cipriano, Lucia Hernandez, Genoveva Gomez; and brothers, Domingo, Felix, Pedro and Eduardo Sanchez.

Survivors include sons Rudy Tapia of Hondo, Rogelio (Jovita) Tapia of Harlingen; daughers, Elenita (Danny) Miranda of Hondo, Elsa (Roxanne) Tapia of San Antonio and Esther Maria (James)Crumbly of North Carolina; 11  grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday (today), 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be Friday, Apr. 29, 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
