Obituary

Elva Maxine (Martin) Kempf Weynand, Age 79 years, 5 months, and 5 days, of Yancey, Texas, died on Saturday, August 14, 2004, at home. She was born in Yancey, Texas on March 9, 1925, the daughter of Frank Charles & Annie M. (Hardt) Martin. Elva was a homemaker. She liked to make quilts and made over 80 quilt tops in recent years. She was also an avid reader and read over 100 books in a year's time. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Alvin Kempf, and Gerhardt Weynand. Elva is survived by her sons: Leo Kempf and wife Beverly of Blanco, Walter Kempf of San Antonio, Douglas Kempf and wife Sharon of La Porte; daughter: Denese Santos and husband Arthur of Yancey; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; brother: Sterling Martin and wife Jimmie Ruth of Hondo. Visitation will be Monday, August 16, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday August 17, at the Yancey United Methodist Church. Pallbearers are: Michael Kempf, David Kempf, Buddy Kempf, Jeffery Kempf, John Kempf, Cody Santos, Alvin Kempf, Todd Wilkes, Honorary pallbearers are: Melanie Wilkes, Jennifer Carroll, Michael Kempf, Annie Santos, Burt Santos, Amanda Kempf, Dustin Kempf. Interment will follow in Yancey Cemetery.
