Emilio M. Flores of Hondo, age 80, passed away Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021.

Born Sept. 23, 1940, in Eagle Pass, he was the son of Guillermo R. and Aurora Meza Flores.

After having served in the U. S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Emilio then served in the Texas National Guard. Later, he worked for several entities, including as health inspector for Medina County.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Emilio Flores, Jr.; and siblings, Maria Regina Rodrigues, Gloria Vega, Sylvia Flores, Roberto Flores and Ramon Flores.

He is survived by his wife, Francisca Ortiz Flores; sons, Alberto Flores, Armando Flores (Sylvia) and Arturo Flores, all of Hondo; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers, Guillermo "Willie" Flores (Maria), Rodolfo Flores (Yolanda), Jose Antonio Flores, Ruben Flores (Norma), Mario Flores, Antonia Gonzales (Amador),  Maria Anita Aranda (Antonio),  Aurora Iturbe (Antonio), Teresa Espinosa, Antonia Gonsales (Amador); and Marta Garza who was raised as a sister.

Family and friends will begin to gather at 9:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel where the services will conclude.
