Esmeralda Palacios Rodriguez, age 72, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023.

Born in Hondo, Feb. 17, 1951, she was the daughter of Antonio Palacios and Guadalupe Salinas Herrera Palacios.

Esmeralda graduated Salutatorian of Hondo High School in 1969. She was an amazing artist and cook. She enjoyed designing costumes and writing plays for her children and grandchildren to perform. She loved family vacations, going fishing, and going to the Kickapoo. She also wrote contracts for the government.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Guadalupe "Kue" Palacios and Victor Emanuel "Taco" Palacios; sisters, Bedelia Gonzales and Celinda Santos (Tony)and granddaughter, Angel Rodriguez.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Arnulfo Rodriguez Sr.; daughters, Yvette Marie Rodriguez (Kevin Bass) and Rebecca Rodriguez; sons, Arnulfo "Nufie" Rodriguez Jr. (Kayla) and Arturo "Tootie" (Patricia "Trish"); grandchildren, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Christopher Rodriguez, Joseph Tapia, Desirae Rodriguez, Nicole Rodriguez, Joel Rodriguez, Bella Rodriguez, Makayla Lopez and Javier Ortega; brothers, Antonio Palacios (Oralia), Richard Palacios (Mary) and Jerry Palacios (Dora); and sisters,  Amanda Palacios, Diama Hernandez (Richard) and Esperanza "Hope" Rodriguez.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 18,  10:00 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
