Esmerejillo "Marijildo" Morales, age 92, of Hondo, formerly of San Antonio, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009. He was born June 17, 1917, in Miguel, TX, the son of Gregorio and Liandra (Vasquez) Morales. He was a farmer. Esmerejillo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maria (De La Cruz) Morales; brothers, Florencio, Cleto and Ramon Morales; and sisters, Josefa Siller, Lenora DeLeon, Maria Carrillo, Lupe DeLeon, Silveria DeLeon and Estalanda Vasquez. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary was led by Jose Mares on Thursday. Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m., Friday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Cleary and Deacon John Schoellman officiating. Pallbearers were Greg DeLeon, Felix DeLeon, Robert DeLeon, Andres Ontiveros, Robert DeLeon, and Rudy DeLeon. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
