Esther Ramirez Ontiveros of Hondo passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at the age of 99 years.

Born in Hondo, April 21, 1922, she was the daughter of Cruz and Aurelia Zuniga Ramirez.

Esther was a loving wife and mother. A devoted homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and sewing for everyone in her family. Her belief in God was sincere and for a long time she was a dedicated member of the Guadalupana Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose C. Ontiveros; daughter, Dora Ontiveros; siblings, Sofia Ramirez, Cipriana Hernandez, Jose Ramirez and Rogelio Ramirez.

Survivors include her daughters, Olga Rodriguez (Juan) and Mary Escamilla; grandchildren, Jim Escamilla (Chris Perez), Alvin Escamilla (Jeanette), Kathy Escamilla, and Agripina Ruiz (Manuel); nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Luis Ramirez (Elida).

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 24, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel and will pause for recitation of the Rosary at 7:00.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Feb. 25, 2:00 p.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic  Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
