Ethelyn Louise "Bitsy" Seay Whitaker Rogers Melton, age 96, formerly of Yancey, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at a Laredo nursing facility. Born in Atascosa, May 17, 1919, she was the daughter of Edwin and Lola Kirby Seay. She was a homemaker and spent most of her life on the family's ranch in the Yancey area. Ethelyn was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, D. W. Whitaker; her husbands, Luther Leo Rogers and William A. "Beano" Melton; son, John Patrick Rogers; and sister, Gilberta Sorrell. Survivors include her son, Robert L. (Patricia) Rogers of Laredo; daughter, Dana Rogers of Mississippi; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Private graveside services are planned.
