Eugene (Gene) Proctor Selle of Hondo, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the age of 83 years. Gene was born on February 8, 1925, in Waco, Texas, the son of Bernard Maurice and Bridget Beatrice (Proctor) Selle. After graduating from Waco High School, Gene was drafted to serve in the Army during WWII. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge in a tank division. His group came under German fire and his tank was hit. After escaping the burning tank, he was captured and held prisoner in Germany. He later received his B.S. from Texas A&M in Enginering. He spent most of the rest of his working years with Exxon. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bernard Selle; sisters, Anna Margaret Selle and Rosella Selle. Gene is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lucille (Jordan)Selle; children, Janet Zerr and husband Marc of Hondo, Rosanne Selle of Pleasanton, Robert Aurty and wife Rebecca of Seminole, Vincent Selle, Debbie Sharp, Mike Selle, Brian Selle, Monica DeWitt, and Ronnie Autry and wife Shirley of Victoria. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. on May 6 at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo, and the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 7 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. The pallbearers were Bobby Graff, Paul Lutz, Wayne Chaney, Scott Conrad, Loyd Witte, Joe Balzen. Burial will follow at the Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section in Hondo.
