Evelyn Annette (Fowler) Jordan, age 55, of rural Hondo went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 7, 2012. Born January 18, 1957, in Robstown, she was the daughter of Gwin Dale and Cleo (McCormick) Fowler. Evelyn graduated from Richard King High School in 1975. After earning her teaching certificate from Abilene Christian College in 1980, she taught at Merkyl Middle School, Leander High School, Malakoff Middle School, as well as Super Sub at McDowell Middle School and Hondo High School. She was raised in the Church of Christ and loved singing church hymns and knew them by heart. She had such a beautiful voice. In college, Evelyn was very active in drama. She performed in many musicals and plays. She was very active in the Hondo Owl Band Boosters and loved working in the football concession stand and interacting with kids of all ages. Evelyn loved her family and animals immensely. Evelyn married Donald S. Jordan on December 31, 1989, and moved to San Antonio. In the summer of 1998, the family moved to rural Hondo. She is preceded in death by her father, Gwin Dale Fowler, and an infant sister. She is survived by her husband, Donald S. Jordan; daughter, Christi M. Jordan; and son, Daniel T. Jordan, all of rural Hondo; mother, Cleo (McCormick) Fowler Newburn and her husband, Guy M. Newburn of Bullard; sister, Teresa (Fowler) Jones and her husband George Jones of Bullard; stepbrother, Seren "Bink" Newburn of Bullard; niece, Allison G. Jones of Bullard; niece, Stephanie A. Jordan of Mesa, Arizona; brother-in-law, John Jordan of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and pets. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral service will be Wednesday, September 12, at 10 a.m., both at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio. Bearers were George Jones, Stephen Brittain, Danny Ortega, Harley Fowler, Ezekiel Rios, and Brandon Hernandez.
