Evelyn Louise (Hoffman) Wilson, 78, of Yancey passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Lytle to Adolph and Elizabeth (Vanderhider) Hoffman. She married Willard Newton Wilson on March 8, 1947, and had three boys, Larry, Garry, and Dennis. She was a grandmother to 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker, a talented seamstress, and a great cook and hostess. She enjoyed hunting, photography, cross stitch and needlepoint, and decorating her home. Over the years, she was a member of the South Texas Cowbells, Yancey Cemetery Association, and Yancey Methodist Church. She helped with the Yancey and Lytle homecomings, served as room mother, and attended many sporting events. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years; her parents, Adolph and Elizabeth Wilson; sister, Dorothy Moore and grandson, Christopher Wilson. She is survived by her brother, Winston Hoffman; her children, Larry Wilson and wife Mary Jo, Garry Wilson and Tina Vanderveer, and Dennis Wilson and wife Sandy. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Monday at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was held at Yancey Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 31, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Vance Elliott officiating. Casket bearers were Shane Wilson, Justin Wilson, David Boss, Nick Wilson, Nathan Wilson and Kyle Heyen. Honorary bearers were Brian Stovall, Kevin Crowsey and Brian Mullins. Interment was at Yancey Cemetery.
