Obituary

Everardo Morin "Everett" Torres, age 83, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. Born Sept. 22, 1931, in Big Wells, he was the son of Estanislado L. and Eulogia Morin Torres. He was a carpenter. He loved to go fishing, was active in the community and as a member of the Pruneda Post American Legion. While serving with the U.S. Air Force, he was an Airman 2nd Class (P), a radio operator with the 13th Com. Squad, FEAF, and was stationed at the U.S. Naval Station at Seattle, WA. Among the honors he earned are the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Everardo is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lisa O. Torres; siblings, Rosa Linda 1, Rosa Linda Hernandez, Pedro, Armando and Eliberto Daniel Torres. He is survived by his sons, Everardo O. Torres Jr. of Fresno CA, Everett Ernest (Whitney) Torres of Austin, Karim J. (Tina) Torres of San Antonio and Joel Torres of Seatle WA; daughters, Nuri T. (Francisco) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi and Stacy Ann Torres; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, John Henry, Ricardo, Ray, Jesse, Alvaro, Rebecca DeLeon, Mary Ruth Dziengel, Gloria Grove and Maria Dolores Torres. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment will be at 11:15 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Donations may be made to help with his expenses.
