Fanelle Dorothy Neuman Bohmfalk went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 27, 2020. She was born at home on Sept. 11, 1935, to Clarence Louis and Dorothy Grube Neuman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hondo.
She graduated from Hondo High School in 1953 where she was elected the first head cheerleader for two years. She was also the first Farm Bureau Queen of Medina County.
She married Douglas Bohmfalk on Jan. 17, 1954, and joined the New Fountain Methodist Church in 1961. They were married 46 years when he passed away.
She started working when she was 16-years-old for Bru Miller's Dairy Kreme and through the years she worked for Chapman Grain, Hondo National Bank, Medina Electric Coop, and retired after 20 years with the Medina County District's Clerk's Office.
At New Fountain United Methodist Church she served as Children's Choir director for 30-plus years; taught Sunday School for many years, and was assistant MYF director. She sang at Singspiration, weddings and funerals and held many offices in the United Methodist Women.
She loved sewing. She made many garments for her husband, children and brothers. She made quilts for her children, wall hangings, framed pictures, needlepoint and embroidery, and stuffed animals.
She also loved to garden and spent many hours in her beautiful yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 46 years.
She is survived by her children, Gordon Bohmfalk (Wendy Bennett) of Canyon Lake, Larry Bohmfalk (Andrea) and Kathy Bermea (Danny), all of Hondo; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Betty LaSpina (Jack) of Georgetown; Charles Neuman (Bobbie) of Camp Wood; Lynn Ray (Janet) of Mercedes; Denny Neuman (Marty) of La Grange, and many nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind many friends.
Services will be held at New Fountain United Methodist Church Thursday, July 30 (today) at 10:00 a.m., with interment at New Fountain Cemetary. Memorials may be made to the New Fountain United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers are Zach Bohmfalk, Luke Bohmfalk, Joseph Bermea, Charles Neuman Jr., Mark LaSpina and Chris Neuman.
