Feliciano S. "Felix" Flores was born in Hondo on June 9, 1941, and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010. He was the last surviving son of Miguel and Candelaria (Salazar) Flores. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin Flores; and 10 brothers and sisters, Ynocencia Garcia, Santos Luna, Dolores Luna, Felipe Flores, Ramona Alvarado, Maria Escamilla, Theresa Gomez, Miguel Flores Jr., Salome Flores, and Julian Flores. He is survived by his wife, Adreana (Resendez) Flores; sister, Lupe Caballero; daughters, Elsa Stachl and husband John, Diana Nira and Juan Constante, Alma Gilmer and husband Scott; and son, Eddie R. Flores. He also raised three grandchildren as his own, Melissa Nira, Willie Nira and Denise Flores. His grandchildren are Crockett Lara, Kevin Gilmer, Daniel Gilmer, Matthew Gilmer, Vincent M. Gacilos, Nathaniel Gacilos, Cassandra Gacilos and Brandon Stachl. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Feliciano had worked at the Medina County Sheriff's Office as a jailer, and then for the Hondo Independent School District for 20 years. He was an extremely hard, strong worker and never complained. He always had an encouraging word and a positive attitude. He wanted the best for his wife, all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved all of us deeply and we know he will be watching over all of us. He will be missed! Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 7, 6 to 8 p.m, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
