Felipe Cortez of Hondo, Texas, passed away November 28, 2003, at the age of 96. He was born in D'Hanis, Texas on September 13, 1907. He is preceded in death by his parents: Luz & Alcaria (Gonzales) Cortez; daughter: Maria Flores; son: Mariano Cortez; brothers: Lazaro, Juan, Maximo, Narciso, Perfecto, Trancito, and Guillermo Cortez; sisters: Victoria Garza, Simona Sanchez, San Juana Reyes. He is survived by his wife: Elbira (Sanchez) Cortez of Hondo; daughter: Miss Margareta Cortez of Hondo; son: Ernesto Cortez and wife Evangelina of Hondo; grandchildren: Ernesto Cortez, Jr., Gabriel Cortez, and Yolanda Wenzlaff; great grandchild: Jacklynn Wenzlaff; brother: Pablo Cortez of D'Hanis. The Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 pm Sunday, November 30, 2003, and the Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, December 1, 2003, both services at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Pallbearers were Anthony Torres, Bennie Torres , Pat Torres , Roy Torres , Ernest Cortez, Jr., Frederick Wenzlaff. Burial is to be following the mass at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
