Frances Haegelin Meyer, age 88, passed away on June 29, 2005 in Alpharetta, GA. She was born on June 12, 1917, in Hondo, the daughter of Adolph Louis & Louise Katherine Riff Haegelin. Frances was Valedictorian of Hondo High School, Class of 1935, and won first place in the statewide Texas Board of Education Creative Writing Competition. She attended Our Lady of the Lake College and was active in the Hondo community for many years, serving on the Altar Society of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dr. John Henry Meyer; brothers and sisters Albert Alexander Haegelin, Joseph Adolph Haegelin, Hilmer Bernard Haegelin, Mary Louise Reynolds, Irma Marie Wurzbach; granddaughter Frances Howse. Frances is survived by her sons John Henry Meyer and wife Jessica of Ft. Worth, Gregory Kenneth Meyer and wife Jacqueline of New Braunfels; daughters Sandra Greathouse and husband Ronald of Millersville, PA, Susan Ball and husband Daniel of Alpharetta, GA, Sharon Tomnitz and husband Michael of Horseshoe Bay; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. The Rosary was Tuesday July 5, at 9:30a.m. and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Francisco Puente, was at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 5, both services at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The pallbearers were John Talbolt, Andrew Ball, Albert Haegelin, Barney Haegelin, Brian Reynolds, Richard reynolds. The Burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
