Francisca N. Hernandez, age 85, passed away on June 28, 2005 in Hondo. She was born on June 3, 1920, in Hondo, the daughter of Saturnino & Rita (Orosco) Nira. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Valente Hernandez; sisters, Venita Escamilla, Maria Miranda, Luce Nira; grandsons, Jason James "El Hoss" Hernandez, Johnny Joe "El Blackcat" Hernandez. Francisca is survived by her son, Armando Hernandez and wife Corina of Hondo; daughter, Carmel H. Hernandez and husband Elias of Hondo; sons, Juan Hernandez and wife Jesusa of Hondo, Arturo Hernandez and wife Santa of Hondo; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; brother, Avelino Nira of Hondo; sister, Rosa Palomo of Hondo; brother, Reyes Nira of Dallas; sisters, Eloisa Delgado of San Antonio, Rufina Nira of Dallas; long-time friend, Juan Vargas of Hondo. The Rosary was Thursday June 30, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home chapel at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Jeff Pehl, was at 10:00 am on Friday, July 1, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Pallbearers were Ken Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Andrew Hernandez, Jesse Hernandez, Jeffery Hernandez, Jared Leyva. The Honorary Pallbearers were Israel Hernandez, Albert Hernandez. The Burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
