Francisco V. Cortez of San Antonio passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025.  He was 92 years old.

He was born Mar. 9, 1932, in D'Hanis and was one of 10 children born to Narciso and Ascencion Villarreal Cortez.

Frank lived a life full of passion and joy, always ready for a new adventure. He loved the open road, riding his motorcycle with the wind in his face, and never missed a chance to dance the night away. A skilled craftsman, he found great joy in building and creating, leaving behind a legacy of both the things he made and the memories he shared. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will ride on and dance forever in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Maria Ibarra Cortez; his granddaughter, Genevive Cortez; and all his siblings, brothers, Ramon, Loreto, Agapito and Catarino Cortez, and sisters, Lucia Vega, Santos Camero, Manuela Rodriguez, Guadalupe Cortez and Escolastica Cortez.

Francisco is survived by his daughter, Adelina "Nina" Santos (Jacinto) of San Antonio; son, Jose Anthony Cortez (Patricia "Trish") of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Javier Santos (Yvette), Angela Santos, Ashley Cortez, Lori Zamora (Mark); seven great-grandchildren, Marcus Alonzo, Angel Santos, Giovanni Santos, Anthony Martinez, Amerie Santos, Olivia Zamora, Evan Zamora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. prior to recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 27, at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 6907 Kitchener, San Antonio 78240.

Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., will be Friday, Feb. 28, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 320 FM 2200 South, D'Hanis TX 78850.  Interment will follow at San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.
