Francisco "Frank" G. Palacios, age 80, of Kerrville, formerly of Hondo, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014. Born June 4, 1934, in Utopia, he was the son of Francisco S. and Isabel Gomez Palacios. Frank grew up in Hondo and, after high school, joined the US Army. He later returned to Hondo where he worked as a typewriter repairman for the Hondo Anvil Herald before moving to Kerrville where he worked for the Texas Highway Department until his retirement. Frank was a very loving husband, brother, stepdad and step-grandpa, always willing to go above and beyond to help family and friends. He was known for his love of sports, especially baseball, umpiring many games during his younger days and even coaching Little League for his step grandchildren. Frank also enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita "Janie" Rivera Palacios; sisters, Luisa Luz Fabro, Isabel Rodriguez, Teresa Corona and Mary Hensley; and brothers, Nicholas, Blas, Enocente, Jose Leandro Sr. and Juan Palacios. He is survived by stepchildren, Moraima Villarreal and husband Armando of Harlingen, Evangelina Guedea and Arturo of Kerrville, Johnny Morales and wife Sylvia of Austin and Hugo Morales of Kerrville; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raul Palacios of San Antonio and Ezequiel Palacios of Mesquite; and sisters, Epifania "Fannie" Ybarra of Hondo, Belia Clack of Dallas, and Esperanza "Hope" Palacios of Hondo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and Rosary will be recited Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers: Ryan Morales, Johnnie Morales Jr, Brandon Morales, Ethan Morales, Armando Villarreal Jr., Jose Antonio Alvarez, Blas Palacios Jr., and Reginaldo Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers: Rebecca Rodriguez and Raeana Cardenas.
