Franklin John Muennink of Hondo passed away Friday, September 14,2018 in Hondo at the age of 88. He was born May 2, 1930 at the family home in New Fountain, one of three children to Frank George Muennink and Amalia Emma Mumme Muennink. Franklin was raised in New Fountain and attended New Fountain school where he met the love of his life Helen Boehle. In 1947 he graduated from Hondo High School and began working with his dad. On June 25, 1950, Franklin married Helen Aleen Boehle at Quihi Bethlehem Lutheran Church.They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and 4 children. All of his life he was a farmer and rancher, but always found time for God, his family and his community. He held various positions in his church as well as serving on the Medina Valley Soil and Water Conservation District Board for over 25 years. He was a member of the Hondo Volunteer Fire Department and the Medina County Sheriff's Reserve. Franklin had a love for hunting, which he did off of his front porch in his later years. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ruby Nell Johnstone and Hulda Wheeler. He is survived by his wife, Helen Aleen Boehle Muennink; children, Glenn (Debbie) Muennink, Karen (Bill) Bain, Debbie (Bobby) Cox, and Ronnie(Melody) Muennink. He is also survived by grandchildren: David Bain (Kendall), Sue Ellen Geyer (Leonard), Mandy Jennings (Jeff), Kari Davis (Chris), Christine Oefinger (Kurt), Molly Muennink (Brandon), Steven Cox (Amanda), Michael Muennink (Brittany), Lance Muennink (Gina), Andrew Muennink (Jackie), Kassie Cox, Cody Muennink (Lindsey). Great grandchildren: Karli Geyer, Kelli Geyer, Haleigh Jennings, Blain Davis, Logan Davis, Kourtni Geyer, Tanner Davis, Bryson Lundsford, Annabelle Muennink, Jaxson Jennings, Maddie Cox, Gracie Muennink, Baylee Muennink, Cayden Cox, Holden Oefinger, Wade Muennink, Jack Muennink, and Baby Tillie Rose Muennink in October. Also survived by His long time care giver Delma Trevino and her children" Right after "Baby Tillie Rose Muennink in October. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 16, 5 to 7 p.m., in the New Fountain United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 17, at New Fountain United Methodist Church Fountain of Life Center. Interment will be at New Fountain Cemetery. The family requests memorials be given to the building fund at New Fountain United Methodist Church.
