Obituary

Freedom Frederick Perkins, Sr. of Converse passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024.  He was 79.

Born May 4, 1945, in Milford, MA, he was the son of Freedom Helon Perkins and Annie Luella Southard Perkins.

A veteran of the Vietnam era, Freedom served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force as a noncommissioned officer medic. After retiring from the Air Force, he became a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in the Poteet area. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and his Yorky, Rascal.

He was an extremely generous man and he regularly donated to the Food Bank. Freedom was a "people person", always chatty and interested in others' stories. He also liked to tell stories and reminisce about his childhood and his military service.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Brigitte Friedrich Perkins and Carol Collier Perkins; and brother, Robert A. Perkins.

Surviving are his daughter, Wanda L. Perkins; sons, Dr. Freedom F. Perkins, Jr. (Silvia) and Mike M. Perkins; grandchild, Jamie Perkins; and brother, Edward H. Perkins.

Graveside memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 12, at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Castroville TX.
