Gabriel H. Ybarra, age 76, of Hondo, passed away March 9, 2004. He was born on May 12, 1927, in Hondo, to Jose M. & Ventura (Herrera) Ibarra. He was united in marrage to Catarina Salazar. To this union three children were born; Ventura "Ben", Ida, and Irasema. Gabriel was a faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church. Those who preceded him in death were his parents; son: Ventura S. "Ben" Ybarra, brother: Pedro H. Ybarra. He is survived by his wife: Catarina Salazar Ybarra; daughters: Ida Garcia of Hondo, Edith Ybarra of Kyle; 9 grand children; 5 great grand children; brother: Jose H. Ibarra, Jr. of Uvalde; sister: Isabel Del Toro of Hondo. The Rosary was at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 12, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass was, Saturday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Rosary was led by Maria V. "Mary Ben" Ibarra and the Mass was led by Fr. Jeff Pehl. The pallbearers were: Jason M. Ybarra, Shaun A. Ybarra, Ruben Tapia, Derek Tapia, D. G. Olvera, Stevie Olvera, Arren Aleman. Burial followed in the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
