Galdino Loera, age 80, of Hondo passed away Thursday, Mar. 22, 2012. Born April 18, 1931, in Matehula, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, he was the son of Tomas and Elvira (Cassio) Loera. His parents and sister, Teresa, precede him in death. He was warehouse foreman for Chapman Grain for many years until he retired. Survivors include his wife, Julia Loera; daughters, Virginia Maxwell and husband Philip, Mary Laughlin, and Vangie Loera; sons, David Loera, Tom Loera, all of Hondo, and George Loera of Hearn; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez, Stan Alan Laughlin, Joshua Aaron Laughlin, Celeste Loera, Nathaniel Hudzik, Dalton Loera, Heather Maxwell and Jack Loera; brothers and sisters, Jose "Pepe", Erlindo, Joaquin, Jesus, Manuel, Tomasa, and Ramona Loera, all of California, and Luz Loera of Mexico. Visitation will be Sunday, Mar. 25, 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be held Monday, Mar. 26, 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
