Garry Glenn Wilson of Yancey, 67, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016. Born Dec. 12, 1948, in San Antonio, he was the son of Willard Newton Wilson and Evelyn Louise Hoffman Wilson, who preceded him in death. Garry earned a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Tarleton State University and although ranching was his life passion, he also owned a hot oil business while putting his girls through school. He lived to teach, whether it was a day of chores at the ranch, working cattle, hunting, running machinery, or as simple as tying a knot, you were going to learn how to do it and keep doing it until it was done right. Up until his hands couldn't move anymore, he would gladly walk you through what you needed help with. He lived a humble life, was a man of his word and never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family. His life was his family and his ranch. He died peacefully on his ranch after losing his battle with Lyme Disease and ALS. He is survived by his daughters, Wendy (Brandon) Smith of Corpus Christi, Kelly (Brian) Stovall of Anson, Tammy (Kevin) Crowsey of Yancey, Kimberly (Kyle) Heyen and Kristy (David) Boss, all of Hondo; grandchildren, Michael and Nathan Wright, Yancey Jacky and Scott Meshell, Wyatt and Eli Boss, Garret Crowsey and Jacy Stovall; and brothers, twin Larry (Mary Jo) Wilson of Pearsall and Dennis (Sandy) Wilson of Yancey; and fiancee, Anita Kopplhuber of Yancey. Funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 14, 10 a.m., at Yancey United Methodist Church. Interment was at Yancey Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to Yancey United Methodist Church.
