Gary Benke of Hondo passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the age of 77.

Born Nov. 5, 1944, he was the son of Gus and Ruth Todd Benke.

Gary attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, followed by Sul Ross State University in Alpine.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Adrian Benke; and nephew, Matt Miller.

He is survived by soul mate Linda Lou Waters Bagget; son, Brandon Benke; daughter and son-in-law, Sarita and Lott Whitwell; grandson, Copper; niece, Doddie Miller; and great-nephew and -niece, Jonathon Miller and Minta Miller Dahmann and husband Zachary Dahmann.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Private interment will be at a later date at Zion Cemetery, Helotes.
