Gayle Marjorie Haby Rohrbach, of Castroville, passed away on August 6, 2023 at the age of 72. She was born May 20, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas the second of three children born to the late Milton Alfred Haby and Florence Mary Tschirhart Haby.
Gayle grew up in Rio Medina and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and a member of St. Ann's Altar Society. She attended St. Louis Catholic School from the first to eighth grade, and then attended Medina Valley High School. While in high school, Gayle worked as a waitress at Cora's Café. After graduating from Medina Valley High School in 1969, she worked at Tampo Manufacturing in San Antonio before working at Medina Electric Co-Op where she was employed for over forty years.
On July 17, 1971, she married John Paul Rohrbach at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. She and John Paul made their first home in San Antonio soon after they got married. They then moved to Hondo and lived there for over forty years before moving back to the Medina Valley area in Castroville. They were blessed with forty-six years of marriage and during that time they made many memories traveling before the time of his passing in 2018. Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews meant so much to her and she loved to attend their sporting events, recitals, and stock show exhibits.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Robbie Haby of Helotes; sister, Trudy Haby of Castroville; sisters-in-law, Kay Heyen and Mary Griffin both of Hondo; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Paul Rohrbach; and in-laws, Jeff Haby, Bob Heyen, Larry Griffin, Richard A. 'Rick' and Gail Rohrbach.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Braden Keller Community Center at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
Memorials may be made in Gayle's memory to any St. Louis Catholic Church or St. Louis Catholic School memorial fund.
