Genoveva (Morin) Ortiz, age 91, of D'Hanis passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Born in D'Hanis, Nov. 20, 1922, she was the daughter of Nieves and Lucia (Tambunga) Morin. A loving homemaker, she lived in D'Hanis all her life and was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was also active in the Guadalupanas. Genoveva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilberto Ortiz Sr.; son, Gilberto Ortiz Jr.; and her siblings, Crispin, Frances, Arturo, Dominga, Armando and two infant siblings, Jesus and Raul. Survivors include her daughters, Esther Hernandez and husband Sotero of San Antonio and Anna Maria Garcia and husband Julian of Garland; daughter-in-law, Lydia Ortiz of D'Hanis; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Eustolia Hernandez and husband Julian of San Antonio; brother, Alejandro "Alex" Morin of Houston; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be Saturday, July 19, prior to the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m., followed by interment at San Francisco Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ben Ortiz, Andrew Ortiz, Jason Ortiz, Robert Garcia, Joseph Hernandez and Jesse Hernandez.
