George William Cameron, age 85, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. Born Nov. 24, 1930, he was the son and only child of Thomas Reed Cameron and Mary Irene Clements Cameron, who both predeceased him. George worked as a sheet metal fabricator/mechanic for 35 years at Kelly Air Force Base, retiring in 1985. He was a quiet man who enjoyed keeping to himself. However, his family and friends will remember him for his quick and irreverent wit, including his love of baudy limmericks; his artistic abilities and skills at drawing; his joy and pride at being a father to his two daughters; and his love for his wife of 39 years, Mary Lou Ward Cameron, who he mourned every day since her passing in 1997. George is survived by his daughters, Valerie (Fred) Klaerner of Kerrville and Stacey (Robert) Weigand of Hondo; brother- and sister-in-law, Bobby and Mary Ward; sister-in-law, Suzi Haass; sister- and brother-in-law, Patsy and Pete Ulbrich; and numerous nephews, nieces and their children and grandchildren. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at the Best Western Hondo Inn. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Assocation of America or the ASPCA.
