George Otto Mumme, age 84, of Hondo passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. The son of Earnest Louis and Ella Alvina (Helmke) Mumme, George was born August 6, 1928, in Vandenberg where grew up and went to school. He worked at Universal Rundle, on the Kelley Ranch, and many years for the Texas Department of Transportation in highway maintenance. George is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 33 years, Wanda Naomi (Marsh) Jones Mumme; brothers, Alfred, Milton, and Clinton Mumme and wife Erma; and sister, Laura Ann Nietenhoefer and husband Milton. He is survived by niece, Linda Roeder and husband Danny; nephews, Allen Mumme and wife Mary, Sherman Mumme and wife Lisa; stepson, Eddie Jones and wife Edna; stepdaughter, Kayleen Crawford and husband Ray; brother-in-law, Carlton Marsh and wife Joyce; sisters-in-law, Sue Henry, Velma Jackson and Zella Mae Mumme; friend and caregiver, Bernice Boehle; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. Visitation was from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday, September 24 at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Casket carriers were Allen Mumme, Sherman Mumme, Glen Goehle, Bobby Whetstein, Jim Pauling, Jimmy Walch. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.
