George W. Reitzer was born February 22, 1911 in Dunlay, Texas. He passed away June 22, 2003 in Hondo, Texas at the age of 92 years, and four months. George was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi. He married Anna May Filleman on March 12, 1932 at Quihi. George was preceded in death by his parents: William & Julia J. (Grell) Reitzer; brothers: Theodore Otto "Teddy" Reitzer, Joseph Oscar Reitzer; sisters: Margaret F. Reitzer, Hellena Johana Reitzer; son-in-law: Hilmer Mueller and daughter-in-law: LaVerne Reitzer. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Anna May (Filleman) Reitzer; daughter: Georgia Ann Pope and husband Elmo of Hondo; sons: Thomas J. Reitzer of Hondo, Wilbur R. Reitzer and wife Ann of Virginia Beach, VA; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. George was a retired automobile mechanic in the area. He was also an avid sports fan and traveled many miles cheering on all sports. He was a retired member of the Hondo Volunteer Fire Department and the Quihi Gun Club. He loved to garden and was a fisherman and hunter. Visistation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday June 25, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Schur. Pallbearers are Steve Mueller, Rick Tondre, Nathan Tondre, Mike Hackebeil, Landyn Hackebeil, Elliot hackebeil. Interment will follow in Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, Hondo, Texas.
