Georgia Dean (Gilbert) Schweers, age 77, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Mar. 24, 2013. Born Aug. 28, 1935, she was the daughter of Charlie and Mildred Naomi (Welch) Gilbert, who preceded her in death. Georgia married Harold Schweers on Nov. 29, 1952. She was a homemaker and had also held positions with several local businesses over the years. Surviving are her husband of 61 years; her daughters, Jerri L. Whitley and husband Aubrey Joe Whitley Jr. of Yorktown and Donna L. Schweers and fiance Phillip Valencia of Bryan; grandchildren, Charleah Whitley Villarreal and husband Phillip of Hondo, Shawn Whitley and wife Christina of San Antonio, Krystal Stukavec and husband John of Kuna ID, Ashley Champagne and husband Michael of Abilene, Rhyan R. Crisp and husband Joey of Hondo, George P. Ross of Runge and Paula M. Ortega and husband Joe of Uvalde; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Gloria Rule and husband George of Hondo and Mary Matthews and husband Jack of Helotes. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Mar. 28 (today) at 10 a.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Bearers are Shawn Whitley, Michael Champagne, Joey Crisp, Ryland Crisp, George Ross and Joe Ortega. Honorary bearers are George Rule, Gary Rule, Allen Mumme and Sherman Mumme.
