Gerardo A. "Jerry" Bernal of Hondo, 69, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017. Born June 12, 1947, in Hondo, he was the son of Esteban and Ursula Arcos Bernal. Jerry retired as a kiln operator at Universal Rundle. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sulema DeLeon, Odelia Perez, Amparo Alvarez, Esteban Bernal Jr. and Ester Bernal. He is survived by his wife, Olga Barrios Bernal; sons, Bernardo Bernal, and Ramon (Brooke) Bernal, all of Hondo and Benjamine "Benji" Bernal of Austin; grandchildren, William Fritz Bernal and Quinn William Bernal; and sister, Orfelina B. (Ramon) Villa of Hondo. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m., prior to recitation of the Rosary on Thursday, June 15, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mass will follow at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
