Just three days past her 94th birthday, Gertrude San Miguel Sendejo Palacios of Hondo passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025.

Born in Floresville Jan. 16, 1931, she was one of six children of Hipolito and Anselma San Miguel Sendejo.

Known to family and friends as Tootsie, she was a beautiful soul whose memory will be lovingly cherished.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and a favorite aunt. Her skill as a cook stirs memories of delicious tamales and menudo. And, she loved to dance!

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manuel Palacios; son, Fidel Hipolito Orosco; brothers, Alfred, Rudy and Victor Sendejo; and sister, Aurora S. Duran.

Survivors include her son, Oscar Antonio Palacios and his wife Jenny; four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; sister, Isabel Sendejo; and nieces, Marie de Leon and Olga Duran, who were her caregiver angels.

At this time, no service is planned.
