Gladys Anne Halty Mann of Hondo, Texas, passed away February 17, 2006, at the age of 84, in Hondo. She was born March 10, 1921, in Castroville, the daughter of Charles Otto & Ida Emma (Loessberg) Halty. Gladys attended the LaCoste public schools, graduating from LaCoste High School in 1939. On January 6, 1942, she was married to Wesley R. Mann, of Hondo, in San Diego, California. Upon Wesley's discharge from the United States Army in 1946, they returned home to the Mann ranch south of Hondo where they engaged in farming and ranching. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and St. John's Altar Society. Gladys was a very personable individual who greatly enjoyed the company of her family and friends, and she was always willing to extend a helping hand or provide a kind word to those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 59 years Wesley Raymond Mann; brother Alvin Halty; sister Nora Halty Reus; brother-in-law Milton Haegelin and Al Barry. Gladys is survived by her son Gerald Mann and wife Christine of Converse; daughter Janice Kyrish and husband Gene of San Antonio; son Dennis Mann and wife Diane of Hondo; daughter Karen Nieschwietz and husband Prosper of Portland; son David Mann of Hondo; brother Floyd Halty and wife Mary of Boerne, Leonard Halty of San Antonio; sister-in-law Evelyn Haegelin, Jeanette Barry; grandchildren Randy Mann, Steven Mann, Robyn Goddard and husband Clif, Amber Nieschwietz, Wesley Nieschwietz, and Jill Nieschwietz; step-grandchildren Lisa Herschman and husband Ken, Yvette Eddleton, and Stephanie Johnson; and step-great-grandchildren Nicholas Herschman, Trevor Eddleton, Chase Eddleton, McKenna Johnson, and Ainsley Johnson. The Rosary will be at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr Jeff Pehl, will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 21, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Pallbearers are Randy Mann, Steven Mann, Wesley Nieschwietz , Clif Goddard, C. A. Tondre, and Scott Halty. Entombment will follow in the Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Mausoleum.
