Gladys Weynand Schmidt, age 80, of D'Hanis, TX, passed away Nov. 2, 2008. Gladys was born Aug. 8, 1928 in D'Hanis, TX to the late William and Mary Louise Saathoff Weynand. Gladys is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michal Claire "Mikey" Schmidt; brothers, Raymond, Ervin, Melvin, and Albert Weynand. She was raised in D'Hanis and was a descendant of pioneer families in Medina County. Survivors include her husband, Julius Schmidt of D'Hanis; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Martha Schmidt of D'Hanis; grandson and his wife, Eric and Erin Schmidt of San Antonio. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo. Rosary followed by Funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in D'Hanis, TX.
