Gloria Garcia
Flores
May 8, 1931 – April 7, 2024
Gloria Flores of Hondo, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 92. Born May 8, 1931 in San Antonio, Texas, to Manuel C. and Petra Lopez Garcia, Gloria was one of four children and the last of the living siblings.
She married Air Force Master Sergeant Robert Delfino Flores in 1950 and after his retirement in 1973 they made their home in San Antonio.
Together they had 5 children. Gloria was the family seamstress and worked on any and every thing that was brought to her. She also had a green thumb, with plants and flowers of every kind, all around the house and yard. Her love for flowers sparked her interest of flower arrangements. Gloria made these for family and friends for any occasion or just because. Gloria would take on any hobby, from ceramics to cake decorating and even piñata making. She was one-of-a-kind and knew no stranger as she would immediately become grandma to everyone she met. Gloria deeply loved her family, a family that reflected the love as she was referred to as the family monarch. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will be carried on for years to come through her many loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Manuel Garcia; and sisters, Herminia Perales and Vera Escobedo; her husband, Robert Delfino Flores Sr.; daughters, Melinda Flores and Alexandra Tompkins (Dave).
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Gloriana Cardenas (Stephen), Roberta Ruiz (Joe Sr); and son, Robert Flores Jr. (Gloria); 13 grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday, May 2, 2024 beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by recitation of the rosary at 11:00 a.m., and the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment services will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Pallbearers for Gloria are great-grandchildren, Sebastian Lopez, Xavier Lopez, RowdyJoe Ruiz, Skyler Fitzpatrick, Samuel Fitzpatrick, Serenity LaMontagne and Joshua Cardenas.
