Gloria (Vela) Gallardo, age 77, of Hondo passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2007. She was born April 19, 1930, in Mexico, to Perfecto and Josephina (Delgado) Vela. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Domingo Gallardo Sr.; son, Juan Gerado Gallardo; stepdaughter, Juanita Gallardo; son-in-law, Juan Coronado; and brother-in-law, Santiago Rendon. She is survived by her sons, Carlos F. Gallardo and wife Adela, Ruben Gallardo and wife Goldie Piña, Doningo Gallardo Jr. and wife Carolina; daughter, Gloria Reyes and husband Ruben; and step-daughter, Lupe Coronado, all of Hondo; 27 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; brother, Hector Vela and wife Ida of California; and sisters, Dora Rendon and Edna Vela, both of Hondo. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, and Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Ken Dakin officiated. The pallbearers were Charlie Gallardo, Rene Reyes, Jared Leyva, Jason Gallardo, Rudy Coronado, Bobby Rendon. The honorary pallbearers were Brian Benavides, Rudolfo Rodriguez, Randy Rodriguez. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
