Graham Smoot of D'Hanis passed away, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at the age of 75. The son of Donovan and Welhmania (Carpenter) Smoot, he was born Jan. 23, 1936, in Comanche. A retired surveyor and a former Justice of the Peace in Georgia, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Bay of Pigs and was a life member of American Legion Post 55 in Clermont, FL, and of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3196 in Hondo. He was a member of the Cowboy Church in God's Country. Graham was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley Smoot and Jimmy Smoot; and sister, Ann Butler. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Stouffer) Smoot; son, Samuel Smoot and wife Leslie of Phenix City, AL; three grandchildren; stepchildren, Jarrett Presswood and Tyler Presswood, both of Loxley, AL, and Tiffany Lee of Groveland, FL; and five step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on the 28th of January 2012 at the Cowboy Church in Gods Country, 374 CR 341, Hondo. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
