Guadalupe "Lupe" Gallardo Coronado of Hondo passed away suddenly Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.  She was 89.

Lupe was born Jan. 4,1935, in Ennis TX, the daughter of Rafael and Maria Rodriguez Rios. After the death of her father, she was adopted by his uncle, Domingo Gallardo and wife, Gloria.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to rearing nine children, Lupe was a Certified Nurse Assistant and also worked in purchasing at Medina Community Hospital. She enjoyed traveling and occasional trips to the casinos.

She was preceded in death by her parents and adoptive parents; her husband of 38 years, Juan T. Coronado; sons, Rudolfo and Randolph Rodriguez; brother,  Carlos Gallardo; and sister, Gloria Gallardo Reyes.

Survivors include her daughters, Roxanne Beal (Benny), Becky Villarreal, Diana Benavides (Erasmo), Rachel Coronado; sons, Raynaldo Gallardo (Angelica), Raymond Coronado (Carol) and Rudy Coronado (Lisa); 34 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Domingo Gallardo (Carrie) and Ruben Gallardo; and sister, Thomasa Salazar.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with recitation of the Rosary at 11 a.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.

Pallbearers, representing each of her children's families, are grandsons, Justin Stubblefield, Gus "Weebee" Garcia Jr., Ralph Rodriguez, Brian Benavides, Cedrik Muñoz, Rudy "Fatso" Coronado, Raymond "R. J." Coronado Jr. and Ethan Conde.
