Guadalupe Hernandez age 83, passed away Sept. 27, 2003. He was born on Aug. 12, 1920, in New Braunfels, Texas, to Rosalio and Genoveva (Rodriguez) Hernandez. Guadalupe is retired from the City of Hondo after 28 years of service as a Tractor Operator in the Street Department. Guadalupe is a U.S. Army Veteran, having received a Purple Heart award during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Filamana Rodriguez; brother: Francisco Hernandez. He is survived by his wife: Nicolasa (Hernandez) Hernandez; sons: Armando Hernandez and wife Dora of Frisco, Samuel Hernandez and wife Lydia of Celina, Carlos Hernandez and wife Oralia of Hondo; daughters: Dora Gaitan and husband Robert of San Antonio, Esmeralda Carreon and husband Jesse of San Antonio, Elsa Santos and husband Richard of Kokoma, Ind., Olga Rodriguez and Richard of San Antonio; sister: Anita Camacho of Hondo and numerous nieces and nephews. The Rosary is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 1, at 2:00 p.m. both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo with burial following at the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section. The pallbearers were:Armando Hernandez, Jr., Sammy Hernandez, Jr., Robert Gaitan, Jr., Jesse Carreon, Jr., Carlos Hernandez, Jr., Joey Gaitan.
