Guadalupe "Lupe" Vosquez Mares, age 87, of Hondo passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015. Born Dec. 12, 1927, in Hondo, she was the daughter of Anastacio and Sara Garcia Vosquez. A housekeeper for several local families and a loving homemaker, she especially enjoyed spending time with her husband. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, Ysidro "Chilo" Mares Sr.; sisters, Ignacia Dominguez, Joyce Bader, Santos Jungman and Mary Vosquez; and brothers, Anastacio Vosquez Jr. and Jose Vosquez. She is survived by daughters, Eva (Edward) Garcia and Elisia (Rudy) Garcia; sons, Ysidro (Rose Mary) Mares Jr. and Robert (Aurelia) Mares; grandchildren, Kristina Diaz, Andrew Garcia, Joe Anthony Garcia, Ysidro Mares III, Leticia Rodriguez, Robert Mares Jr., Danny Mares, Kevin Andrew Mares and Joe Albert Carrasco; great-grandchildren, Johnathon Diaz, Katalina Diaz, Brooklyn Garcia, Aidan Sebastian Mares, Diego Armando Mares, Marcos Mares and Melody Mares; and sister, Ramona Gilbert. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and Rosary will be recited Sunday, Nov. 1, 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
