Gwendolyn "Gwen" Gray Haegelin, age 96, of Bandera and formerly of Hondo, passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015. Born in Uvalde, June 19, 1919, she was the daughter of James Edward and Clara B . Uzzell Gray. She was a former member of Hondo Garden Club and Medina Community Hospital Auxiliary. She loved cooking, dancing and working in her yard. Her greatest enjoyment came from the time spent with family and friends. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Albert Alexander Haegelin; brothers, Norman Kent Gray, James Campbell Gray and Bruce Uzzell Gray, Sr.; and great-granddaughter, Emma Kate Talkington. Survivors include her son, Albert (Cindy) Haegelin of Austin and Kathy (Homer) Stevens of Bandera; three grandchildren, Scott (Tess) Haegelin, Brian (Sarah) Haegelin and Katie (Brad) Talkington; and seven great-grandchildren, Ellie and Ford Haegelin, Henry, Gage and Lincoln Haegelin, and Trenton and Spencer Talkington. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, prior to the Rosary at 10:30 and Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers were Scott Reynolds, Don Reynolds, Nick Reynolds, Richard Reynolds, Gregory K. Meyer and Brian Reynolds.
