Obituary

Henry Harold Bryant Jr., age 67, of Hondo passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013. Born November 4, 1945, in Fort Worth, he was the son of Henry Harold Sr. and Lola Mae (Williams) Bryant, who preceded him in death. Harold graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 1968 with a Bachelor of Forestry degree. He earned a Master's Degree in Range Management in 1969. Married June 8, 1968, Harold and Judy brought their family to Hondo in 1983 when he accepted a position as District Conservationist with the Medina Valley Soil and Water Conservation District. He retired in 2005 with over 30 years of service. An Eagle Scout, he was active with the local scouting progam and both his sons became Eagle Scouts. He was a member of the Society for Range Management and the American Indian/Alaska Native Employee Assn. Harold was an avid train enthusiast and had been honored by the president of AMTRAK in Washington, DC, Nov. 8, 2012, for his volunteer work promoting AMTRAK. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith Ann (Bradley) Bryant; sons, Major John H. Bryant of Dallas and WO1 William E. Bryant and wife Cindy K. of Niceville FL; grandson, William E. Bryant Jr. of Sabinal; brother, David Allen Bryant of Weatherford; sisters, Rebecca Ann Watson and husband Mike of Pound Ridge NY and Kathryn Elaine Brockman of Louisville, KY. Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, August 30, at First United Methodist Church, Hondo. Interment will be Saturday at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston. Active and honorary bearers are John Bryant, William Bryant, Josh Brockman-Weber, Tristan Watson, Robert Moen, Tony Tetrick, Cody King, Lynn Post, Phillip Wright, Ronald Nagel, JJ Quesada and Shane Breon.
