Heather Rae
Semmelmann
May 11, 1966 – September 2, 2020
Heather Rae Semmelmann, born in San Antonio May 11, 1966, used her angel wings to join Jesus Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, in Hondo TX.
Heather attended North Side Schools in S.A. where she worked in a school cafeteria and graduated in 1988. She participated in Special Olympics track, bowling and swimming, bringing home dozens of medals through the years. In 1992, as an adult she participated in the first Texas State equestrian events in Denton TX, through the AWARE program in San Marcos. She continued riding at the family's homes in SA and Hondo.
Heather had many pets throughout the years. She loved animals, especially horses and her cat Fancy Pants. She enjoyed watching TV – The Incredible Dr. Poll and classic westerns, especially Little House on the Prairie. She loved helping her mom in the kitchen and decorating the house for holidays. Heather was amazing with puzzles, especially word searches. She participated and volunteered at Jamie's Ranch, a destination for Special Needs individuals.
Her memory was amazing. When she met someone, she quickly knew all about their family – names, ages, number of children, birthdays – and remembered it all, even years later. Her favorite music was Christmas carols.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, L. D. and Dorothy Moore and Frank and Jessie Semmelmann.
Remaining to cherish special memories of her are her parents, Leslie and Elaine Semmelmann of Hondo; sister, Diana Semmelmann (Royce Stovall) of San Antonio; sister, Lara Semmelmann of Austin; niece, Tylar Renee Burson of San Antonio; aunt and uncles, Janet (John) Murphy of Colorado Springs, CO, and Larry Semmelmann of San Antonio.
The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers especially Bobbie Smith of All County Hospice. The love and support they gave Heather and the family was extraordinary.
Even though Heather loved flowers, please consider memorials in her name to Jamie's Ranch, 2700 C.R. 419, McCoy, TX 78113; or CAMP Camp (Children's Association for Maximum Potential), P. O. Box 27086, San Antonio TX 78227 (515 Skyline Dr., Center Point TX 78010).
Graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 11, at 11:00 at Locke Hill Cemetery, 10625 Fredericksburg Rd., in San Antonio.
Yes, Heather, the sky IS blue and you will always be our Pussycat.
