Helen Aleen Boehle Muennink of Hondo, 93, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024.
She was born October 22, 1931, at the family home in Quihi, Texas, one of three daughters of Alfred Charles Henry Boehle and Edna Louise Heyen Boehle. Helen was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran church in Quihi, Texas.
Helen was raised in Quihi and attended New Fountain school where she met the love of her life, Franklin John Muennink. They were married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and later she joined New Fountain Methodist Church where she remained a member until her passing.
As a mother raising four children, she made time to serve her church and community. She was active in the church as a member of the United Methodist Women, served as chairman of The American Cancer Society, member of The Medina County Fair Association and Hermann Sisters. From 1977 to 2001, she had the opportunity to work in the Hondo ISD Cafeteria. Many students still recognized her and were sure to give her a "hello" or a hug wherever they would see her.
Franklin and Helen enjoyed traveling with friends. Several years after retirement, she became Franklin's caregiver after he suffered a stroke. Upon his death, they had been married for 68 years.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sisters, infant Dorothy Marie Boehle and Carolyn Baker and her husband Duane.
She is survived by her children, Glenn Muennink (Debbie), Karen Bain (Bill), Debbie Cox(Bobby) and Ronnie Muennink (Melody). She is also survived by grandchildren: David Bain (Kendall), Sue Ellen Geyer (Leonard), Mandy Jennings (Jeff), Kari Davis (Chris), Christine Oefinger (Kurt), Molly Muennink (Brandon), Steven Cox (Amanda), Michael Muennink (Brittany), Lance Muennink (Gina), Andrew Muennink (Jackie), Kassie Kirksey (Klay) and Cody Muennink (Lindsey).
Great-grandchildren: Haleigh and Jaxson Jennings, Bryson Lundsford; Annabelle, Gracie, Tillie, Lillian, August, William Muennink; Karli, Kelli and Kourtni Geyer; Blain, Logan and Tanner Davis; Holden and John Ryan Oefinger; Maddie, Cayden and Casey Cox; Karter and Klaira Kirksey; Baylee, Jack and Ellie Muennink; Wade and Mallory Muennink.
She is also survived by nieces, Cheryl King (Tracy) and Laurie Henefy (Justin); two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Visitation is Sunday, December 1, 2pm to 4pm, in the New Fountain Methodist Church Sanctuary.
Funeral Service will be at 10am, Monday December 2, at New Fountain Methodist Church Fountain of Life Center.
Interment will be at New Fountain Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to New Fountain Methodist Church.
