Herbert Louis Faseler of Utopia, formerly of Yancey, 77, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. Born April 29, 1939, in Hondo, he was the son of Robert Alton and Dora Mae McAnelly Faseler. Herb graduated Hondo High School and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He earned a BA degree in music from Sul Ross University and was band director in South Texas for many years. He also was an oil field driller, pumper and consultant. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Anthony Alaric Faseler. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Heideman Faseler; daughter, Laura (John) Beakley of Utopia ; sons, Steve (Anne) Faseler of Bergheim, Robert "Rob" (Dawn) Faseler of Hondo, John (Tara) Faseler of Houston, and James (Shawna) Faseler of Leakey; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Roberta "Berta" (Donnie) Neuman of Waco, Claudia (Gale) Long of Yancey, Lorine (Steve) Hackebeil of Yancey; and brother, Clyde (Sharon) Faseler of Houston. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at First United Methodist Church, Hondo. Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery in Utopia.
